Last week Prof. Jenny Dankelman attend the international congress in Innovations for Global Surgery 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa. The congress was organised by the Innovations in Global Surgery and the University of Cape Town, in partnership with the International Association of Students Surgical Societies (IASSS) and Stellenbosch University.
During the conference innovations in Global Surgery, advances and best practices were shared. A variety of themes, including access to surgical care, improving the quality of surgical care, technology and infrastructure and system thinking were discussed. The conference was attended by surgeons, anaesthetists, engineers, obstetricians and gynaecologists, medical students and more.

As part of the workshop Professor Jenny Dankelman delved into the challenges of surgical care delivery in low-resource settings, shedding light on the stark realities and pressing needs.
