Both Prof. Jenny Dankelman and Roos Oosting travelled to Egmond aan Zee to attend the GROW in research days hosted by www.growinresearch.eu, we discussed inclusivity in research and the need for interdisciplinary, international and intersectoral research to contribute to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.
Over two days, nearly 200 researchers, students, experts, NGOs, and government representatives exchanged interdisciplinary research and challenges to drive global impact. In her keynote, Nienke Buisman (Deputy Director/Head of Unit
International Cooperation in R&I at European Commission) emphasised the GROW platform's role in enhancing long-term partnerships for outstanding research and innovation, viewing it as a promising start to many future opportunities, also aligning the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.
“Any effort invested in a GROW project will be rewarded with a unique learning experience, a broader research skill set, a network of great minds, and the satisfaction of contributing to meaningful advancements in Africa.” mentioned Victoria Manya in her keynote speech in today’s final day of this years GROW-event.
Alongside Nienke Buisman and Victoria Manya, Peter Paul van 't Veen, Prof. Peter Knorringa, Emmanuel Ojo, Mirjam Tjassing, and #GlobalFellow KT Samenjo contributed with inspiring field examples, insights on AUEU collaborations, and discussions on the NL-Africa strategy's significance. In addition, various workshops offered participants deeper insights and actionable knowledge across multiple disciplines.
This gathering in Egmond aan Zee has significantly boosted the generation of concrete ideas and new connections.
